Creative Opportunities. Artistic Processing.
Monumental. Spiritual. Beautiful.
Mark Bowie, from the Introduction:
"I've photographed forests for many years, but over the last couple, I embarked on a project to delve deep into them.
That dedicated focus has expanded and strengthened my creative vision for forests. And what I've learned, and will share with you is this: Woodlands are so complex, and the opportunity for artistic imagery so vast, that it's unrealistic to take a cookie cutter approach to photographing them. So many variables need to be taken into account simultaneously.
That's the challenge... and the allure."
This comprehensive instructional video consists of a presentation that examines in-depth the fine art of seeing and photographing trees and woodlands, and step-by-step processing demonstrations in Lightroom and Photoshop specific to forest images. It's packed with insights into the creative possibilities, examining ways to de-clutter the visual chaos, compose for visual separation, add depth and dimension, define tree patterns and accentuate lines, forms and textures. I offer strategies for photographing deep inside forests, along their edges and from on high, and illustrate the artistic opportunities presented by different weather and lighting conditions, most notably, fog.
Compelling tree and forest imagery can also be elevated through artistic processing. In the narrated processing segments, I cover effective contrast and color adjustments, image softening techniques, abstract expressionism and amazing black and white conversion — all with the goal of creating moody, atmospheric images that convey the monumental beauty, spirituality and majesty of trees and forests.

Layer Masking. HDR's. Panoramas. Focus Stacking.
Lighten Blend Mode. And More.
This comprehensive instructional video consists of 13 chapters, including a one-hour presentation on shooting and blending various types of multiple exposure imagery, and about a half hour of step-by-step processing demonstrations in Lightroom and Photoshop. What makes it so powerful is that I cover in-depth strategies, tips and field techniques for recording the images to be blended, and narrate the processing techniques that will take you to the ultimate result. These techniques allow us to expand what's possible to capture with a camera, achieving results closer to how we envisioned them than a single exposure could. They can quickly and easily take your landscape imagery to another level.
